Puerto Rico (Day 1)

HOLY SOCKS, YOU GUYS!
This place is awesome!!!
Let's talk about the plane rides, awesome. Short. Loved it.
And I slept on the plane ride, no problem.
Then, we get to Puerto Rico.
As soon as we step off the plane all you can feel is your skin soaking up all the moisture in the air.
Then we get on the buses to take us up to the resort.
The ride up to the resort was kind of long (probably because we were so excited to get there after minimal sleep, and way too much excitement.)
The ride up was so incredible, the streets were blocks of a slightly beat up house, next to a nice house, next to a jungle. Not kidding. It's gorgeous.
Then we get up to the resort.
I almost peed when I saw this thing.
The first thing you see when you come up is a golf course that's probably the entire size of UVU campus. HUGE.
If not bigger than that.
Then we get up to the resort.
HOLY. WOW.
I've never seen such a beautiful thing.
This resort is divided into three (count em) three sections.
The main floor is where the realllllly rich people can afford to stay.
Then the second section is where the slightly less rich people stay.
The third section is where the slightly less than those people stay.
But don't discount that for what it is, our room is like $400 a night to stay in.
It's pretty fancy, too.
So we get to the check in, I've called my bank to make sure that my card is going to work over here. We get to the front desk to pay the deposit $200 (OUCH) and ta-dah! My card doesn't work. Awesome.
I start crying because I'm tired, hungry, and just want to get changed into clean clothes and brush my teeth, and we're $100 short for the deposit.
The lady at the front desk was super nice and somehow waived the other $100, so we didn't have to pay it.
*Phew* Crisis averted.
By this time, it's almost 5:00, this time meaning the time we get to our room finally.
So we decide to take showers, and get ready for the dinner.
So we do, and we hang out for a little while before the dinner starts, just checking out the resort.
We go to the water park.
We go to one of the seven pools, where we saw an Iguana probably the size of me decide to take a dip into the pool. He just swam around the kids in the pool.
We saw two kitties. (I'm contemplating taking them home. :p)
And then we head up to dinner.
Wow.
What a buffet. Mahi-Mahi, pork, chicken, steak.
Salad with mango salsa, black bean and corn salsa.
Flour pockets. (I don't know what exactly they were, but they were good.)
At least 8 different deserts.
Sheesh.
They had all kinds of activities, like doing a little photoshoot, getting caricatures, and all sorts of stuff.
We got a caricature of Kyle and me as Romeo and Juliet, super funny.
Then the boys went and walked around the casino for a little while.
And now we're in our room, all ready for bed.
(Well, at least I am. I'm beat.)
Goodnight, all!

I'm having a Betty Crocker experience....

I'm not sure what's happening to me.
I HATE to cook.
But lately I've been in a baking mood.
Two Sunday's ago I made Lazy Day Bars.
Basically what they are is a box of cake mix that you put not very much liquid in them to make the dough more thick. Then you put it in a pan and put an ENTIRE bag of chocolate chips on it.
Chocolate with chocolate. (:
Life doesn't get better than that.
So now, this evening, I made peanut butter cookies.
Way easy.
1 cup pb
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1tsp vanilla
1tsp baking powder
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
Breeze, right?
Well, they're really good too.
At first they're a little gritty from all the sugar,
but then you take the first bite and let it sit there for a minute and it melts in your mouth!
So good.
I ate three of them in like a 3 minute time frame.
Not very fast for most, but for me that's pretty impressive if any of you know how slowly I eat.
Here's the end result.

In other news, I'm gonna take a moment to talk about how proud I am of myself.
I've been eating so healthy lately!!
Nothing but whole grains, boca burgers, salads, and whole grain pasta with olive oil.
I feel so good!
OH and I've been drinking A LOT of water.
That's very out of character for me.
But man, I'm doing so well.
Proud of me.

AND
I'm leaving for Puerto Rico in 6, (count em) 6 days!!
AHHHH!
So excited.
I'm coming back with a tan, just you wait.
I'll post pictures of how awesome it was when I get home.
Well, friends, that's all.
Just wanted to boast about how cool I am for a minute!
(:
Take care all.

Da-da-da-daaaa!

Wow. What a week. I need to talk about something happy.
So let's talk about how awesome my classes are this semester!

Theatre 1013.
Cool class. Not what I was expecting. It's like the basics
of theatre, meaning like what it is. There's no acting or anything. Well,
there is a little bit. Like we have to write our own 10 minute play. But
that's it. It's a lot of reading in the book. But it's cool. I definitely
see why we have to take it as a theatre minor.

Astrononmy.
I love this class. I've always been fascinated with the stars
and all that jazz. Getting to take a class about them and actually
getting credit for it? Cool. It's with one of my favorite teachers, too.
I took a class from him like a year ago, Life in the Universe. Coolest
class offered at UVU, hands down. When I saw that he was teaching an

astronomy class I jumped on it. It's in the planetarium (that's right,
UVu has a planetarium.) and that would be freaking awesome except for the
fact that the seats are sooooooo comfortable. Probably the most comfortable seats at UVU. And the room is warm. And it's dark in there so you can use
the projector....I think you know where I'm going with this. I haven't
fallen asleep yet. But it's early in the semester. I'm not expecting

myself to, but sometimes I'm tired. I'll let you know if I make it through
the whole semester without falling asleep. I think I deserve a cookie
if I make it.

ASL.
Psh. Do I even need to go into how cool this class is? I think not.
But I will anyway. I love my major so much. Seriously, I'm so excited to be as good as all of the interpreters out there. I know I can do it. My class is TEENY TINY. Like, there are seven of us in the class. I know. Little. But it's good. Makes for more one-on-one time for us students. It's a
new language, I think it's best if we can ask specific questions. He lets
us do that. He teaches at BYU, too. Super cool guy. It's so weird to
have a class with him and then compare him to my previous ASL teacher. My

1010 teacher was deaf (as is my current teacher) but when she was growing
up, she was forced to talk. So she was actually quite vocal in class.
Always making noises and she'd make a noise to call your attention at the
beginning of class. For a deaf teacher, she was pretty noisy :p My new
teacher, he's very quiet. I think I've only heard him make a sound maybe
twice. class is so quiet. Not that that's a bad thing. Just a change.
I've always thought it was fun to walk by the ASL classes and hear
students laughing at a joke the teacher made. Just sounds like they're
in the classroom just laughing at nothing. Till you get into the classroom.
It's just cool. I love my major. I'll say it again. It's incredible to me
that i can sign sentences. Like, I can ask you how your mom is, what
your favorite candy is, tell you what I did last week.... all kinds of
stuff. All of that in a semester and a 1/4 of another one! Freaking cool.

Sociology.
OH man, my teacher is a kick. She's the funniest lady in the
world. She says things like "Holy toot" and that cracks me up. she's a
great lady. She been a foster mom, and a real mom. She has a lot of kids.
Love that class. The environment of the classroom is awesome, everyone
talks and contributes. Even the teacher says we're her favorite class
to teach. Like, today in class we talked about "floating." For those
living in Provo/Orem, you might know what that BYU- coined term means.
For those of you that don't, feel free to ask me about me in person.
Haha
So yeah, classes are awesome. I'm expecting some killer grades. (:
Ps. I have a new follower!!! Wheeeeee! Hi, Rachael!

2011

HOLY BUCKETS
It's 2011.
Dang.
Well, what an evening I had on New Year's Eve.
First it started out with bowling with Kyle and Kayle (who is Kyle's best friend just returned from his mission.)
Next we go to Kyle's house where we think it's just going to be me, Kyle, Kayle, and Brad and his lady.
Wrong. The whole gang is here!!! Chris, Andrew, Pat, Cam, Brad, Kyle, me, Kayle, Rachael, and Cam's girlfriend. DANG. Lots of people in that house. So much fun.
We then played Killer Uno (way fun!) till around 11:00 and kind of mingled until the ball dropped.
It was so fun to hang out with everybody. I love those guys.
Once the party started dying down around 12:45, someone (I won't name names to keep their identity a secret hahah) got sick.
Pretty dang sick.
So we tended to unnamed sick person until they were feeling up to going home.
Which was around 3:00 am.
Haha what a night.
Nonetheless I think we all had fun. Here are some pictures of all of us!

Left to right: Sarah (I think that's her name), Cam, Andre, and Kayle. Don't look so happy to be here, Kayle.

L to R: Jeff, Pat, Brad, and Rach.

Chris laying on the floor.

And then one of Kyle and me trying to be cute. Ha

Well Friends.

It's been a minute. So I decided I better blog.
I had Christmas with Kyle's family on the 20th since that was the only day we could all gather to celebrate. Kyle's brother did an outstanding job at getting all of us up at 6:00am. Oi. But it's a good thing he did, cuz we had a lot of presents to open.
I was trying to upload the picture but it's not working. You're just going to have to trust me when I say I got spoiled! Seriously.
And with all of the presents we had under the tree (113 presents to be precise.) it took us 2
1/2 hours to sleep. We were all tired of opening presents. Ha but there were so many because there were presents from Kyle, Brad, Jeff, Ryan, Gary, Tammy, and then Gary's daughter, Bev. Lots of people= lots of presents.
Then.
I went to Reno for Christmas! That was a blast.
I flew on a plane out and back all by myself for the first time.
You should be proud of me.
I'm proud of me.
Got spoiled. AGAIN.
I know. It's nuts.
I got this adorable Sign Language ornament from my mommy (:

Luke made sure that we had a checklist for all of the things we needed to do before Santa came on Christmas night. The next morning he left a letter for Luke thanking him for the celery and carrots for his reindeer and for the cookies for Santa. Luke was beside himself with excitement.

Kyle's family also got a letter from Santa.
They forgot to leave cookies out for Santa.
He wasn't happy.

The rest of the break I just hung around with my family.
And my favorite nephew.
Who loves me very much. (:

Finally....

Well Boys and Girls,
I'm finally going to post the pictures of Kyle's birthday present.
It's been a long time coming, but hey.
Here we go.

Special shout out to Jordyn for helping me make the tags and lending me more fun letters. (: Couldn't have made them without you.

I love this boy.
